Giving Back—It’s Who We Are

Charitable giving and volunteering have always been central to our culture. The belief that, “to whom much is given, much is expected,” inspired the firm’s associates to establish the Mariner Foundation, which is led and funded by associates. In addition, the firm provides a dollar-for-dollar match, which means that 200% of every dollar donated by associates goes directly to nonprofit organizations that support disadvantaged families and children. Since its founding in 2010, the Mariner Foundation has donated more than $3 million to charities.

 

The Foundation empowers each associate to meaningfully impact the communities in which they live and work. The firm gives associates two days of paid time off to volunteer with organizations they believe in and support. This time to give back is provided in addition to the annual paid time off associates receive.

Here’s how our offices have supported local nonprofits:

Associates at our Manasquan, New Jersey office helped out at Simon’s Soup Kitchen, a nonprofit that serves up to 250 hot meals weekly and offers fellowship. Our volunteers served meals to patrons.

Volunteers from our Kansas City headquarters participated in the annual Groundhog Run to support Ability KC, a children’s therapeutic provider in the Kansas City Metro that serves children with physical and mental disabilities. including autism. 

The “elves” at our San Diego office adopted several homeless families in support of Interfaith Community Services’ Adopt-A-Family holiday gift-giving program. The team filled holiday wish lists with presents and gift cards for several homeless families. 

Our Omaha office finds ways to volunteer each quarter. This time around, they painted designs on the outside of 150 backpacks and filled them with teddy bears, blankets, toothbrushes, coloring books to support foster care children through Lutheran Family Services.
