Joining Mariner Wealth Advisors | A Cultural Fit
Why Mariner Wealth Advisors?
Hear from Marty Kossoff, former president of Allegiant Private Advisors.
“Allegiant Private Advisors in Sarasota, Fla., joined Mariner Wealth Advisors through an acquisition in 2021.
Why Mariner Wealth Advisors? Well, that’s pretty easy to answer now, but it wasn’t at the time. We had just left an independent broker-dealer as our own RIA, and it was a painful transition through the pandemic and had no interest in any other business relationships at that point. With a little hubris, we actually thought that our business model was pretty good. And we were going to take our culture, our philosophy, our vision and expand it throughout Florida. And in fact, we couldn’t understand why everybody wasn’t doing business like we were doing as fiduciaries, putting clients first, treating them like family, doing the same with employees, having a great service-oriented culture and putting in the best technology we could find.
Turns out that we were wrong about one thing. There are other people doing really good things out there, and it quickly became apparent to us that Mariner Wealth Advisors was one of those firms. Our culture aligned, our vision aligned, even our tech stack aligned. So when we saw the immediate win for our clients in terms of this expansion of services, and we saw an immediate win for our employees in terms of career potential, growth, possibilities, both vertically and geographically, what became an easy decision for us was probably the most important business decision we ever made. And we’re glad we did.”
